Frithjof Kuhnen

Man - land relations are not immutable. On the contrary, they are subjected to a continual process of change and are interrelated with the natural, economic, social, political and technological conditions. As these change, the man - land relations have to adopt themselves. They often lag behind the new situation and do not adjust in time. As a consequence, problems exist with respect to the efficiency of land use, equity and social balance as well as environmental acceptability. The views regarding the implications of such a lag and necessary interventions have changed over time.
